Beyond Dunharrow and the Dimholt Vale lies the Dark Door, entrance to the perilous Paths of the Dead. No mortal feet dare walk this road, for the way beneath the mountains is guarded by an army of lifeless spectres ruled by the treacherous King of the Dead. In ages long past these oath-breakers were cursed by Prince Isildur, who punished them for their faithlessness by binding them to wait in darkness upon the forgiveness of his kin.
